We, the representatives of the national movement of Sindh, are deeply alarmed to report the continued and systematic acts of state terrorism, repression, and human rights violations being committed against the peaceful political activists, students, workers, and citizens of Sindh by Pakistani state agencies, including the notorious ISI and military forces.
Within the last two days alone, two young political activists affiliated with the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM) have been martyred by direct gunfire during peaceful protests. On May 20th, during a political rally in the town of Moro, security forces, including plainclothes intelligence operatives, opened fire indiscriminately, resulting in the death of activist Zahid Laghari and serious injuries to ten others. Today, another activist, Irfan Laghari, succumbed to his injuries, bringing the toll to two martyrs. Ten more remain at risk.
Over 200 Sindhi political workers have been forcibly disappeared by Pakistan’s military intelligence agencies, and countless others have been arrested or intimidated in recent weeks. When JSQM leader Fatah Channa, Suriya Sindhi, and Mohib Azad attempted to transport Irfan Laghari’s body to his native village for burial, paramilitary forces and plainclothes agents stormed the Hyderabad Civil Hospital and forcibly took possession of the martyr’s body, The above-mentioned leaders have also been arrested and forcibly disappeared by the police. a blatant desecration and violation of human dignity.
At the heart of this brutality lies a broader campaign of colonial repression. The Pakistani military is occupying millions of acres of Sindh’s land, displacing thousands of native Sindhi villagers from their ancestral homes. Punjab-dominated authorities have diverted Sindh’s rightful share of the Indus River through illegal canal systems, turning vast stretches of fertile land into a desert. The natural resources of Sindh — its oil, gas, coal, and minerals — are being continuously looted by the Pakistani state to fuel Punjab’s economic interests, leaving Sindh impoverished and marginalised. The situation of state oppression, genocide, and fascism against oppressed nations in the Pakistani state has reached such an extent that the government of Pakistan has awarded the title of Field Marshal to the extremist Army Chief mula Asim munir responsible for the ongoing genocide of the historically rooted nations of Sindhis, Baloch, and Pashtuns. This is undeniable proof of the state’s brutality and barbarism.
These atrocities are not isolated incidents. They represent a pattern of systemic oppression, economic exploitation, and political subjugation designed to suppress the legitimate aspirations of the Sindhi people. The people of Sindh are subjected to the worst forms of colonial occupation, and our youth, lawyers, farmers, women, and students are courageously rising in protest through rallies, sit-ins, and road blockades across the province.
We, therefore, make a direct and urgent appeal to:
• The Secretary-General of the United Nations
• The United Nations Human Rights Council
• Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and other international human rights watchdogs
• All democratic governments and global civil society
• International media and journalists committed to justice and truth
We urge you to take immediate notice of the state-sponsored violence, forced disappearances, land occupation, resource exploitation, and human rights abuses in Sindh.
The Pakistani state, its military, and intelligence agencies are the direct perpetrators of these crimes. The Sindhi nation has been reduced to a colony under Punjab’s hegemony. In response, the Sindhudesh national movement, particularly the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), declares its unwavering commitment to the Political struggle and resistance for the freedom and sovereignty of Sindhudesh.
We call upon the world to stand in solidarity with Sindh in its just and democratic struggle for self-determination and liberation from this unnatural state structure.
Justice for Sindh. Freedom for Sindhudesh. End State Terrorism Now.
